Default Reverse all Armor

(This suggestion is only partly tongue-in-cheek...)

I want all the armors reversed.

You may have noticed that all the armor in GW has extra reinforcement on the RIGHT shoulder. Unfortunately, this should be on the LEFT shoulder, to provide extra protection from a RIGHT-handed opponents blows. The RIGHT arm should have less armor, to make weapon swinging easier.

It looks particularly silly on rangers who should have an unencumbered RIGHT arm, and extra armor on the shoulder that actually faces the enemy.

This would be an easy graphics tweak...

And they've all adapted to try to get around the armour style by using their off hand!

Actually, the armored shoulder is supose to be the one you wield your weapon with, because you use the shield in your other hand. You may very well armor both shoulders though, and variation between either would be fine, I don't see this as a legitimate concern though.

If you look at historical examples like Roman gladiators in the Thracian style, or medieval jousting armor, the shield arm is the reinforced arm. Besides, the archer certainly wants an unencumbered right arm...

Actually, the shield arm was not reinforced, infact many times it was left unarmored entirely in order to allow swifter movement of the shield, which tended to be vastly more reinforced than most armor types.

As for archers, if direct combat was possible, the bow arm itself may be reinforced but not burdened with a spaulder of any sort, as it is vastly better to kill another with an arrow than the little survivability armor afforded you in off chances.

Not to mention in jousts, the reason barding was reinforced on the pauldron of the shield arm was to rebalance against movement of the lance and keep the shield itself from being pressed aside, the encumberance was desired but not for armoring purposes.

Personally, I'd like it better if armor could be chosen to have a pauldron on one side or the other to be assymetrical, or symbetrical of course, regardless of historical influences, it is an aesthetic purpose here.
